Scholarship: Gateway Farm Expo Scholarship

Description: This is a $1,000 scholarship available to high school students continuing their education in an agriculture-related degree program.

To qualify for the scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria: 

• Plan to be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited, school or institution of higher learning for the following academic year. 

• Be pursuing a degree or certificate in agriculture, which may include Production Agriculture, Agri-Business, Ag Economics, and related fields.

• Must be a current, graduating junior/senior or a student who has successfully completed home study at the level to enter college or who has received within the current calendar year a GED (Graduate Equivalent Degree) and be between the ages of 16 and 19.

Scholarship recipient selection shall be made from qualifying applicants based on the following criteria:

• The submission and content of a 200-word essay or a two-minute video responding to the statement “Tell us about your passion for agriculture.”

• Involvement in non-academic activities.

• The receipt and content of two Statements of Character: one to be completed by a member of the applicant’s school administration; the other by an individual outside of the school system. Statements of Character shall not be immediate family members.

• Submission of the applicant’s class transcript; for the purpose of reviewing the curriculum completed. Grades need not be a part of the transcript.
