Opportunity: Wayne State College - Northeast Nebraska Teacher Academy
Description: The Northeast Nebraska Teacher Academy (NENTA) is a substitute teacher development program between Wayne State College and the Northeast Nebraska Network Consortium (ESUs 1, 2, 7, 8, & 17). NENTA is specifically designed to prepare eligible college students to serve as highly qualified substitute teachers to, in part, help meet the substitute teacher shortage in northeast Nebraska. For NENTA students to serve as substitute teachers, they must meet certain NENTA requirements as well as requirements (rules) set forth by the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE).
Why participate?
Faculty members hold biweekly seminars with NENTA participants to ensure ongoing training and development. You’ll be an experienced teacher by the time you graduate, which means your job prospects will be a lot brighter, and your nervous days will be behind you when you meet your first class. Plus, you can earn up to $210 per day while substitute teaching.
