Scholarship: Peru State College - Corrections Leadership Scholarship Program
Description: The Corrections Leadership Scholarship Program provides scholarships to Peru State Criminal Justice students who are completing a degree while working at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) during the school year and summer. The program aims to develop students to become leaders as employees in the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
Peru State students accepted into the program will receive $12,500 per academic year, divided equally between the fall and spring terms and applied to the student’s accounts. Such funds may be used towards tuition, fees, books, room, and board. Students are responsible for any remaining balances on their accounts and all other associated fees, charges, books, and expenses.
An additional $2,500 housing allowance is available for the summer, in addition to pay received for hours worked at TSCI.
Eligibility Requirements:
Be 18 years of age or older or reach 18 years of age prior to beginning employment at TSCI.
Have a valid driver’s license.
Currently attend or be a graduate of an accredited senior high school or received an equivalent of a high school diploma.
Pass a criminal background check conducted by the Nebraska Department of Corrections, the Corrections Office Behavioral Assessment, pre-employment medical exam and a drug test.
Full-time on-campus student (minimum of 12 credits) per each fall and spring term (Fully online students are not eligible for the program).
Continued enrollment in the Criminal Justice degree program.
Minimum GPA of 2.0 at the start of each academic year.
Continued eligibility for employment with TSCI.
